Development Variance Permit and Liquor Control & Licencing Branch Endorsements
Persephone Brewing Company has been developing and operating a brewery since 2013 and are working to resolve outstanding issues relating to the use of the property as a brewery in order to be in compliance with ALR regulations and SCRD bylaws. Persephone has applied to the SCRD for a development variance permit to increase the indoor seating and outdoor area of the food and beverage service lounge. Persephone is also seeking SCRD input regarding endorsement applications that will be submitted to the BC LCLB regarding the lounge and the picnic area.

Gambier Island South West (SW) Peninsula Trail Network Plan
The purpose of the Gambier Island SW Peninsula Trail Network Plan is to provide the SCRD and the community with a prioritized list of trails to be developed as well as guidelines for their development.
The development of the Trail Network Plan is a result of public consultation work such as the 2016 SCRD Gambier Island SW Peninsula Trails Questionnaire.
The Gambier Island SW Peninsula Trail Network Task Force has now concluded. The Terms of Reference and meeting notes can be found below:
The results of the SCRD Gambier Island SW Peninsula Trail Network Task Force were presented to the SCRD Planning and Community Development Committee on December 14, 2017. The staff report can be found here. The Technical Report was presented to the SCRD Planning and Community Development Committee on May 10, 2018. The staff report can be found here. The SCRD Board adopted the following recommendation on May 24, 2018:
166/18 Recommendation No. 9 Gambier Island South West Peninsula Trail Network - Technical Report
THAT the report titled Gambier Island South West Peninsula Trail Network – Technical Report be received;
AND THAT SCRD apply the Gambier Island South West Peninsula Trail Development Principles on the South West Peninsula of Gambier Island as follows:
1. Trail Development Maintenance Principle #5 be applied to existing SCRD peninsula trails;
2. Trail Development Fire Safety Principle #2, Action Items 2-5 be referred to first responders for consideration in future work plans and for discussion with potential community partners;
3. Trail Development Principles be considered for any future trail development on the South West Peninsula of Gambier Island;
AND THAT staff report to a future Committee meeting regarding funding options for developing the West Bay Connector trail;
AND THAT the Qualified Environmental Professional report process for the West Bay Connector trail include the participation of adjacent land owners in the ground truthing of the trail through the watershed portion;
AND FURTHER THAT this report be referred for information to the following agencies:
• Islands Trust;
• Sḵw ̱xwú7mesh Nation;
• Sunshine Coast Emergency Program;
• Gambier Island Community Association.
